how to autofit to any tv size when creating a DVD
Guys,
I don’t know exactly where I should post this one. I’m a newbie and would like to ask of it is possible to autofit my dvd to any tv size. I composed my mpegs(720×480) in AE then create a dvd using windows movie maker vista version. when i playback in tv, the video goes out of the tv trimming some parts. the tv where the final dvd will be playback is not widescreen.can u guys please helf me with this? i only have 4 days to finish this personal video project. thanks..

It sounds like you are just experience problems with the title safe/action safe areas. Standard cathode ray Television sets always trim areas around the top, bottom and sides. If you play it on a projector, or a flatscreen plasma TV, you will have no trimming and you’ll see the full image. Just make sure anything important (like text) is inside the title safe area so that all TVs will be suitable for viewing your projects.

so you’ve made a 16×9 video and the edges are getting cut off on a standard 4×3 TV? this is called pan-scan …
I’m not sure about windows movie maker, it may not have the necessary options … but what you need to look for is an option for “16×9 letterbox” … this will force the video to be letterboxed rather than pan-scaned…

You need to look in the software that authors the DVD. It’s the last app you use before burning. It should have some sort of switch for “letterbox” or “pan-scan”. You want “letterbox”.

vinzmunoz said his videos were 720×480, not 16×9. That means they are standard 4X3 Broadcast size. So the only thing I can think of that he could be talking about is typical title safe trimming on a non flatscreen Television set.

720×480 is 16×9 if the PAR is 1.2 instead of .9.
