How to Auto parent dozens of layers to layer above?

Sorry Im talking about aligning the position not time.
I really do need to do what Im asking . Link all the layer slices to the one above and then position them.

You can select all, then deselect your intended parent and then use the parent select pop up menu on one of the selected layers, choose the parent in this list and all will take on that parent.
FYI moving a parent in time will not move its children in time.

This does not allow me to position align all the slices as they all more together.

I really do need to assign all the layers to the one above. It does quite a different thing. After Ive linked them all to the layer above they concertina out correctly.

Yes thats it.
All layers parented to the layer above itself.

You could do this with a single expression (depending on the move you want on the objects.
Use the index number of the layer above the layer you are on (thisLayer.index-1). Assign the position of the current layer with the position of the layer above.
Or use the the index of the current layer as a multiplier of the position of the first layer. So as the first one moves each layer moves x times more.

once you decide on the expression you can paste that to all layers
