How to animate footage
Hi Guys,
Just signed up and brand new so hi to everyone, Could somebody please help with the following, I am editing using Premiere Pro CS3 and really struggling to create the following effect.
I am trying to animate my movie footage by cropping the top and bottom using the “crop” tool and then having the movie scrolling from left to right continuous without a gap with a title positioned underneath scrolling the opposite way. Obviouly, the title animation is simple and I have no problem with that but I simply cannot get my head around animating the movie the same way. I can animate the footage to go left and right but as soon as it moves it leaves a blackscreen and I have tried duplicating the footage onto three and four layers but I just can’t seem to get it right. If I haven’t totally confused everyone as to what I am trying to do, can anyone please help ?

Do you also have After Effects? If so, use the “MOTION TILE” preset to “tile” your image horizontally indefinitely for a “seamless” Fred Flintstone-like background.
I’m not sure if motion tile exists in Premiere, however.

Just thought of this if you don’t have AE (but it does require Photoshop or some other image editor):
In Photoshop, make a new image that’s the proper height of your video project, but way longer horizontally.
So, if you’re in the DV world, make a new image that’s 480 height by, say, 2000 width. Then in Premiere, simply scroll the image left/right and you won’t see any seams, provided you don’t move the image past it’s natural width.

Hi James, thanks for your reply. Just for the record I do have After Effects but I am pathetically useless with it. I tried to animate some fancy text years ago and couldn’t export it out to premiere and last interest in it.
I have been playing around with this all day and have finally more or less achieved what I wanted. I have started with the clips off screen to the far right and simply animating to go from far right to far left. Stacking them using multiple tracks and just butting them all up I’ve nearly done it. Its very tricky getting them all running at the same speed buts its coming I’ve nearly done it.
