How to achieve this effect? Kodak momentum ad
Posted by Gopal Reghunath on January 20, 2011 at 6:05 amI recently saw a Kodak ad called momentum.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFCFfh9dbpcI would like to know how to create the yellow lines and animate them with the text as shown in the ad. Is it possible using mograph?
If there is any other easier way in after effects I shall be very grateful if someone could explain it to me.Gopal Reghunath replied 15 years, 3 months ago 3 Members · 7 Replies -

January 20, 2011 at 4:01 pmYou could do the yellow lines with basic sweep nurbs, animating growth. The text could be added with additional sweep nurbs, with textures on the original, or added in AE.

January 22, 2011 at 6:45 amI just made something like this,
(nothing special, I am still learning too.)
I got the general idea from aahron rabinowitz –

January 22, 2011 at 7:01 amWow. Awesome work.
Im also looking for a similar effect. Did you use sweep nurbs? Sometimes the corners keep jittering. How to avoid that? -

January 22, 2011 at 8:33 amok i have used sweep nurbs and am getting the effect i desire. I would also like certain points of the sweeped line segment to move to random positions throughout the animation(for an abstract effect). Is it possible to add the vibrate tag to certain points only?

January 22, 2011 at 2:34 pmYou can’t use the vibrate tag that way, but what you can do if you have Mograph is use a random effector in deformer mode, and then use a restriction tag to limit it’s effect to the desired points.

January 22, 2011 at 6:12 pmAs Adam said, vibrate cannot be applied to other things.
Vibrate is different than a wiggle expression in AE. Vibrate is not a randomizer, this is why you need a random effector.Wiggle creates a similar effect as vibrate when applied to a position, but it is actually randomizing the movement. This randomization is why wiggle can be applied to effects as well as position.
