  • How to achieve this colouring and “haziness” in After Effects?

Posted by Izaya Orihara on December 31, 2014 at 9:29 pm

    Hi!

I am trying to achieve the following effect:

In the image, on the left is the original video clip and on the right is the kind of effect that I’m trying to do. I want that kind of colouring and “haziness” but I don’t know which effects in AE can give me that.

    Any advice?

    Thanks in advance!

The reference image kind of looks like a heavy Magic Bullet Looks [link] preset.

You can do all this with built-in effects, but you’ll have to combine several.

For color, you can use color correction effects like Levels or Curves, Tritone, or Color Finesse, but you might also consider creating a solid layer, using a Gradient Ramp or 4-Color Gradient effect and experimenting with blend modes.

For the haziness, some of that could be done with Glow. The heavier blurs at the edges could be done on separate footage or adjustment layers with Gaussian Blur or Camera Lens Blur.
