  • How to achieve a live concert video look?

Posted by Advanced Spectrum on August 24, 2012 at 4:06 am

I have a concert project that I am working on. It was shot at 24fps 1080 HD. Looks good by itself but appears a bit dry like a movie. What is usually done to achieve a look like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVh7zr0UPLg&feature=related

I like this look because it is different from the bleach by pass look, brings out the vibrancy of the lights and instruments on the set.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Hello Mr or Ms or Mrs Spectrum.

The look of that piece mostly has to do with the live theatrical/stage lighting, less to do with frame rate.

You can try and simulate a 60hz look, but it will be interpolated and might not look natural, and it certainly won’t “relight” your scene.

Depending on your footage, I think a color correction pass might help you the most, but it’s hard to say without seeing it.

    Hi Jeremy,

Thank you for your response. I suspected that there is not much that can be done in post. Your color correction ideas sound like a try.

Will let you know how close I came.
