  • how “smart” is Squeeze’s inverse telecine?

I need to determine the specifics of Squeeze’s inverse telecine filter.

Particularly when “detect field order” is checked, does the filter continuously analyze the video to determine when/where inverse telecine is needed, or is it simply done for every frame regardless? I have a sequence that includes many different stock shots—some interlaced, some telecined, and some neither.

I compressed this sequence as a WMV with inverse telecining and it’s looking great, no interlaced OR blended frames, but I’m wondering what effect it actually has on footage that did not need any inverse telecine to begin with…with more active footage, would I get jumpy pans and choppy movement due to the decrease in framerate from 29.97 to 23.976?

    Thanks!

The only people who can answer your question without added BS are Sorenson.
