How set to start FCP7 from an External Drive on iMac
How can I set up an external hard drive for FCP7 and Snow Leopard
~ so I can update my computer to Mountain Lion (or even Dandelion)
~ and not lose capacity to edit complicated ongoing FCP7 projects.Would just Snow Leopard and FCP7 alone on an external drive do it?
How can I best set up and copy across to external drive? -

Want to try other editing software for new projects… Adobe, Avid, even FCPX, among other reasons.

Avid Media Composer 6, Adobe CS5.5, work on Lion…the current OS. FCP 7 does too. The new OS that was just announced…don’t expect the NLEs to work on those…or be qualified to work on those, right out of the gate.
Autodesk…not sure what OS that works best on, but I figure it falls on the same lines as the others, if it is kept up to date in a timely manner.
Jumping on the new OS right away, when you use professional applications of any kind, is NEVER wise.
