How much for video liscensing to weather channel?
I shot some video during the floods in Atlanta ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywRx7lb9FtU ) and was contacted by NBC Universal who wanted to license it. She has offered me $100 for it which seems low. How do I know what if fair? I have it in HD…

Wow…$100! That will almost feed a family of 4 at Red Lobster! Do like Grinner said, except laugh loudly. Not worth your time or effort. Have you seen The Weather Channel’s huge new set lately? I’m not sure what would be a fair amount to ask, but $100 is insulting.

Thanks for the help. I thought it was a tad low.
I sent her an an email pointing out some of the prices I had found on the web and suggested she revise her offer.. If you like I’ll come back and let you know how it ends up. -
just saw this thread. I can tell you from experience the Weather Channel operates on very low budgets for production.

And I would add a point in support of Walter’s post.
Don’t take too long to negotiate your deal. Weather is fickle and news is even more fickle. You are hot for a day or so and if you do not strike your deal, you have 100% of nothing.

I sold some footage to TWC last Spring during a Noreaster. I think they paid me $175 for the footage. I really didn’t care about the money, I was more interested in the cred. Bottom line is, you’ve got your footage on Youtube for free right now….catch my drift…snowplow??
