How many video monitor are you using with FCP
Posted by Kmaultsby on January 11, 2006 at 8:42 pmI just got my apple 2.3GHz system no monitors to edit with FCP and was wondering should I purchase one LCD computer wide screen display or two 17″ or 19″ LCD monitors. I would like to here from others on what they use and why?

January 11, 2006 at 9:09 pmTwo monitors running FCP off the Mac, and one monitor displaying the video signal (eg feed to a broadcast monitor or TV from DV deck) is ideal. Widescreen monitors are nice. You can never have too much space for FCP, and a video monitor is essential for checking for problems with the interlaced signal or for colour correction work. You won’t get an accurate representation of colour on a computer monitor.

January 12, 2006 at 2:56 pmI just got two dell 1905fp 19 inch monitors and am happy with them so far – plenty of real estate. If you call dell and haggle, they’ll give you a price break – I got $35 off each.

This goes with almost any video application! I’ve got 2 20″ wide screen displays. I love having the real estate. Also, a professional external NTSC monitor is a wonderful contribution.

January 13, 2006 at 3:01 pmI use two 23″ displays and a 9″ NTSC/PAL monitor. Why? 1 23″ is my normal mac screen. On the second I put my programming tools for developing plugins or use it as a HD monitor via the HDLInk from FCP, and the 9″ is for checking what interlaced video looks like, proper video levels etc.
