how many gigs HD?
Posted by Gilles Gagnon on February 29, 2012 at 8:13 pmHi folks,
How many gigs would I need to store 25 hours of 720P footage? 1080i?
(what’s the multiplier?)
Cheers,
GGilles

March 1, 2012 at 4:26 amWhat kind of camera? My Canon Vixia HF S21 shoots to AVCHD, and estimating based on a project I have that’s about 3 hours of footage, it takes up 18.7 GB, so about 6 GB per hour. And that’s shooting at a bit rate of 17 MPS.

Thanks Angelo for your input. I’ll use this as a benchmark for my rough calculations.

Based on your camera model, the specs show:
720 mode in the highest quality (VBR) you should get 24mbps, without the VBR setting, you should get 21mbps.
At 24mbps, that means 32gb=180 minutes of video.
