I’m trying to recreate this. How is this done?
I know it’s a combination of fractal noise (highly scaled), cc glass and something with masks. But I can’t figure out the exact way to recreate it.
    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi Dave,

I found out how it’s done (with a little help). It’s a combination of a few precomps. I’ll get back to this as soon as possible, when I finished the animation.

Looks like a matte was created with a couple instances of Wave Warp and Fractal Noise.

Then it was used as the source for a Displacement Map and Compound Blur on an adjustment layer with the matte itself used as a track matte above a blue solid and in one of the overlay blend modes.

If I had to guess 🙂
