    Thinking of buying new computer.

How good is iMac 20-inch 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with After Effects? Is it fast for motion graphics?

I`m on a 2.13 GHz iMac 20″ and it`s quite alright. AFX version 8.0.1 adds OpenGL support which was disabled in first version of CS3. There`s not much difference between OSX and Win version of AFX on similar spec computer in terms of speed now.

Of course, if you plan to do intricate comps with hundreds of layers and precomps, you will have to use proxies and lower res all the time.. Buy an Octo-mac if you do this kind of stuff.

I run AECS3 on my 2.16ghz C2D iMac (previous generation) with the 7600GT graphics card, and it runs quite well. The new aluminum iMacs can be upgraded to 4gb of RAM for under $80, which is well worth the money for AE use.

i read online taht the newest imacs have a screen problem. LIke a gradient of the color balance. Items on top of the screen are darker than on the bottom causing it to not be accurate for graphics work.
