  • how do you replace a single layer?

I’m scanning the manual for this but haven’t found it yet. I know you can replace a layer in the project window (right click > Replace footage > File), but that won’t work in this instance. I built a 3D room in AE. Each wall is just a copy of one layer. If I replace that layer from the project window it will replace all the walls. I only want to replace one with out having to re-adjust all the attributes and line it up. Any ideas?

in the comp, select the layer you want to replace. then, hold ‘option’ on mac (alt? maybe on pc) and, from the project window, drag the new footage/image into the comp. that should replace that layer witht he new one and keep all the effects and parameters of the previous one.
