How do you output or export only a portion of a sequence?
I want to export part of a rather long sequence to see if my effects look okay in something other than PP2. How do I go about doing that? Thanks.

It’s extremely simple. Took me a while to figure it out also.
See the little thing I circled, that’s called the Work Area Bar, just drag each of its ends to where you want your clip to start and to finish.

Then when you export look in the export settings for a drop down list that says “Range”. Drop it down and select “Work Area Bar”.

Change the duration of the work area bar to cover what you want to export and then export just the work area instead of the sequence.

First set timeline’s Work Area Bar on your portion of a sequence
then
File>Export>Movie>Settings>Range:Work Area Bar

Search the help file for the following and it will show you the work area bar:

Keyboard short cut is Alt plus the left or right bracket[] will set the beginning or end of the bar to your CTI position.

We who don’t use US keyboard don’t have these shortcuts. I tried to use Keyboard Customization Window, but I didn’t find the shortcut. Maybe I’m tired, is it there?

In English, the Keyboard Customization dialog has three sections. The default, I believe, is Application, then there is Windows, then tools.
In the Windows section under Timeline Window is:
Set Work Area Bar In Point and
Set Work Area Bar Out PointSteven
