  • How do I view just one keyframable property in a layer?

Sorry for this very beginner question – I’m starting up with AE again after a long long break and for the life of me I can’t remember how do view just one property in an effect.

For example, you press P to view the position property or T for opacity.

But when adding an effect which has lots and lots of parameters, how do I view just the one I want?

In this particular case, I’m using Trapcode Sound Keys and just want to see the ‘Output’ keyfram/property not the whole ‘tree structure’ to get to it. How can I do this?

You can hide the properties that you don’t want to see by Alt+Shift-clicking them.

Though there isn’t a shortcut for just showing the specific property of SoundKeys that you mention, there are shortcuts for the most common couple of dozen properties.

Also, SS is a convenient shortcut for showing selected properties or property groups.

(See “Shortcuts: showing properties and groups in the Timeline panel”.)

I didn’t know about the SS shortcut…that is a nice one to get what you want.

In addition, the way I use mostly is pressing *u* will show you all keyframed properties…pressing *uu* will display all properties that have had their values changed, keyframed or not.
