    Wait what is the sequences format sizing?

    That looks like its portrait mode e.g. 1080×1920 pixels.

    You can also reset your workspace back to the default:
    Window> Workspaces> Reset to Saved Layout

    I think what we’re dealing with here is, “Just drag a clip here and a sequence will be created so you can begin editing.” Maybe?

    thanks, what you(eric) and paul said look spot on..
    it’s the sequence formatting.. and related to what i’d dragged on

    I’d imported an image with a portrait like resolution, into the project window and dragged it on, maybe that was the first thing i’d dragged in. So I removed that from the timeline and deleted it from the project window.
