  • How do I tell if my colors are broadcast safe?

I’m doing loads of color correction in FCP, and I’m not sure how to tell if my colors are broadcast safe or not. Anybody able to tell me?

For one you can tell in the viewer for
luma its green and red lines over the image.

for chroma I use the vectorscope and look at the spikes.

If they go beyond the boundary (orange circle) of
the color that is spiking, it needs to be brought
    down within the circle.

also use broadcast safe filter after you color
correct to keep spikes you didn’t find from
    going beyond spec.
