  • How do I stop the “ease in” and “ease out” effect in a position transform?

When doing a simple position transform, FCPX seems to ease-in and ease-out the speed of the transform. How do you turn this off. The linear and smooth functions do not solve the problem. Even though I can do this with Ken Burns, it is too limited. This example is seriously simplified, for complex motion- Ken Burns is absolutely not the answer. And while I do a ton of animated graphics with Motion, I want to be able to do this within FCPX. In FCP7, I do not have this problem. So, now I’m working back and forth in FCP7 and FCPX. Thanks for any kind of help.

Here is a 20 sec. video example of the problem:

Hi, I’ve solved the problem using smooth setting and dragging the handle toward the line of the movement. In this way you can modify the distance of the frames. I hope to be clear. This is only a stopgap measure, I think it should be improved by adding maybe even 3D rotation.

I was battling with this for ages and it’s definitely an annoying bug – another work around I’ve found is once you’ve added your 2 keyframes, click on a random point between the two keyframes and then add another keyframe. Disable it, add it again – do this a few times and you’ll notice the picture shifting position. Keep toggling the frame on and off until the picture stops moving.

    For some reason this works!
