  • How do I show gridlines for FLAT format (1998×1080?)

    Hi!

I am trying to adjust a clip for digital cinema and thus need to make sure nothing vital is lost due to the upscaling the cinema is going to do to the clip that is natively in full HD format (16:9, 1080p). I found how to turn on guidelines in the preview window, but how do I make sure these are exactly the right format? I need guidelines in the top and bottom to make sure everything stays within 1998×1080 (1.85:1) and also an action safe zone that is 90% of 16:9.

    Thanks in advance

There are no guides in Premiere. One idea is to draw reference lines in photoshop and export them with transparency. But why would you do that? 1080p to FLAT DCP is usually done with pillarbox and not by upscaling content.

as someone who has done MANY DCP’s I can say none of my clients want their
content zoomed. slight pillarbox on the sides is the way to go.
