  • HOW DO I play imported audio files (mp3,wav) in after effects 7 ?

    hi
please help me with this because I cant figure this out.
in after effects 6.5 when you pressed on an imported audio file
it opened a little window where you could play the
file and listen to it in after effects.
now I have to press ctrl+e to open it in media player
if its a mp3 or a wav file.
how do I solve this ??

I don’t know about AE 7.0, nor the CTRL+E (well, I never tried it for audio) but you can always press the dot on the numeric keypad once your audio track is in the timeline.

    Hey, hope that helped anyway.

Double clicking the file in the project window should open it in a separate footage player window.

BTW, you should NEVER use mp3s in AE. Always use uncompressed audio.

    hey thanks
but the problem is that the footage window
whice is opened in ae7 doesnt play the audio
only shows a timeline as if the file is a jpg or something.
the problem is I cant hear it without rendering it or opening
an external application (ctrl+e) by just clicking twice on
the file (which I could do in ae6.5)

    hey andrew whats up
I know I can press . and preview it but it has to render the file
and I dont want to do that (waste of time)
my question was about playing back the audio I have in after effects
the same way it is in after 6.5 : pressing twice on the imported file
opens a little player (I think its quicktime).
I think the solution is changing what after thinks is the external application
that should open the file because it gives me the after effects composition window
with an audio in it. (it wont play the sound)
