  • How do I move Dynamically Linked AE files to a different computer?

Posted by Richard Boureston on November 21, 2009 at 6:21 pm

I am moving all my files to a dedicated NLE computer. Many of my sequences in Premiere Pro CS4 contain dynamically linked AE files. I tried moving the files and refinding them in Premiere Pro, but I’m getting errors in Premiere saying “The selected file cannot be linked because its type(audio) does not match the orignial file’s type (audio and video”.

When I open the project file in AE I get: “After Effects error: zero denominator converting ration denominators (17::18)”

I have to do this for several projects.

Can someone explain to me what I need to do to get everything reconnected?

Thank you very much for your help!

    Richard

There is a Collect Files feature in AE that lets you gather all assets of a project to a new folder (with copy or move).

Thanks. I figured out that my real problem was that I forgot I had wrapped the files with neoscene. So once I installed neoscene everything worked fine.

Lesson: Don’t forget the codex when moving files to a new computer.

    Thanks again for the response.
