How do I make transperant video

Does anyone know how I make a transperant video. If I create a graphic effekt with a lot of layers etc. But I want the background to be transperant. When I export to AVI, Quicktime, Mpeg2 or Mpeg4 the background become black. Is it possible to create a video with transperant baggrund with after-effect?

Thanks alot.

It works perfectly – but only when I export to AVI. When I export to Quicktime, the program crashes. I use AE Cs 5,0. But anyway AVI RGB+Alfa is fone for me 🙂
