How do I make a DVD movie using full HD footage and Adobe Prod. CS5?
Hi everyone,
I’m about to begin work on a pretty major movie production, but before I do, I have some urgent questions relating to the workflow of my post production. I’m using a Rebel T2i to record 1920×1080 (full HD) .mov files and after editing everything in Adobe, I want the end result to be a standard fullscreen 4:3 DVD movie (not widescreen). So here are my questions:
1. So all of my files are on my hard drive… now what? Should I plug them all into Premiere and then edit them from there in After Effects as I need to? Or should I plug each clip into AE, edit the heck out of it, and then plug all of those into Premiere (using Dynamic Link of course)?
2. That leads to my next question: as I import my HD 16:9 clips into Adobe, do I change them to non-widescreen NTSC DV (which I think is the proper standard for all DVD movies… right?) then, or should I wait until I’m completely done editing my movie to convert this widescreen project to a DVD-ready size?
3. My final question is this: what is a general idea of a typical 16:9 digital video to 4:3 DVD workflow?
I really appreciate any thoughts y’all might have.

Edit in HD and export to the required format.
I would not consider 4:3. You will loose a lot in the sides. I think letterbox is a better option. -

What’s a rough idea of the best export format and procedure (in Adobe)?
You’re right about letterboxing, but it’s looking like I’m going to have to do 4:3 – will the change from 16:9 to 4:3 happen when I export the file for DVD burning?
