How do I find the frame number within clips?
I’m doing a bunch of velocity adjustments to individual clips and periodically slowing it back down to normal velocity. Because the audio doesn’t follow the velocity curve of the video, I’ve been slicing the clip up at the change points. I then need to connect the sliced video back to the sped up video and would like to match it up at the exact frame. Question is, does Vegas show me which frame the now time curser is currently in for the clip? I can obviously see the current frame position of the overall project on the timeline, but again, I’m lookng for the frame position within the clip. Hope this question makes sense.

There is no easy way to do this. Velocity envelopes don’t work very well when you have audio that needs to stay in sync. They are really for action scenes with background music and voice overs. You might want to just forget the envelope and slice and stretch the audio and video together.

Thanks JR. I might try that next time. Do you know if there is a way to find the frame position within clips as opposed to the overall frame position on the timeline? It seems to me that this must be possible, I just can’t find it.

When you right click on an event, you can choose for OPEN IN TRIMMER. In the trimmer, you can read the framenumbers of the event.

Yea, but I think Dan wants the frame number that the Velocity Envelope is currently processing so that he can sync the audio and there is no way to get that.

I agree that there is no other way. So the trick with the trimmer is the closest as one can get.
