How do I duplicate a mono audio signal to both channels?
Posted by Norman Willis on May 31, 2010 at 1:48 amI have a mono microphone input. How can I duplicate it, so it shows up in both left and right channels?
Thanks.

May 31, 2010 at 2:14 amI just grabbed the Pan slider and moved it 50% to the right. Is that the best? Or is there a better way?

May 31, 2010 at 3:04 amIf it shows up as a mono audio track it will be equal in both sides if you keep it panned to the center. If it is a stereo track with audio on just one side, right click it and select “channel” and pick either left or right, whichever has the audio present. Do NOT combine them, this may add any noise that is present in the other track…good luck!

June 1, 2010 at 8:03 pmi use audacity as my default audio editor.
here’s how i make the mono file stereo (well, not true stereo but you at least have audio in right and left)
right click — open copy in audio editor (have to set that up audacity as default aud editor prior)
audacity launches with the mono file
highlight the mono file — and copy it
go to “project” tab and select “new audio track”
click in the new box and paste
go to file “export as wav”
warning comes up that your project will be mixed down to two stereo files in the exported file. click ok.
save it wherever.
go back to vegas
import new audio.
ungroup old audio from video
delete old audio
move new audio to timeline and line it up.
works like a charm
hope this helps.
