How do i do this? (TEXT SWINGING on a HINGE AFFECT)
Hi folks. I have a title made up of 5 words. 4 of those words i have on one video track … and the other word i have on a seperate video track. What i want to do is to take the single word and after a few seconds .. drop one side of it (doesn’t matter which)… and then have it swing back and forth as if on a hinge… Does anyone know how i might do that with vegas? (ie. take the word TALK — the “T” would stay where it is .. just rotate clockwise ..while the rest of the letters would swing with it downward and then back and forth a bit til it stoppped with the “K” on six o’clock.

Click on Track Motion for the hinge track. Go to the upper left corner of the box that pops up and look for “Source Alpha”. Click here and change this to “3D Source Alpha”. Now start playing until you get the desired effect 🙂

I did this a quite a while back for my logo. I used pan/crop if I remember correctly and moved the pivot point (the little circle in the middle of the pan/crop window) from the center of the text to one of the corners and then rotated the text. I think I had to play around with the positioning also once I did the pivot. I also used a sound effect of a door squeak as it swings down and back and forth. Turned out really nice.

This is the coolest technique I’ve seen yet on Vegas. The 3D Alpha…awsome.
