    You can bring the still image into FCP. Put the kissing shot on the layer on top and apply the Mask Shape filter to it. Animate the mask shape from zero up to whatever size, hold it and then continue the animation to full size. Add a mask feather filter to soften the edges.

    you can also try using the iris transition double clicking on it and choosing the desired in or out and also apply a border to it and softening or feather it…. in the same iris transition setting
