I am trying to put an animated lens flare behind text to make it look like it’s glistening. I know there is a way to do this. It has something to do with alpha channels, but I am a beginner to AE. I have a text layer and a solid layer with the lens flare on it. How do I make the lens flare shine through the text layer, while preserving background transparency? I have tried using the multiply mode, but it isn’t giving me the desired effect.

If I am in over my head, is there a free plugin out there that gives text a glistening appearance?

    Cheers
