  • How do I create a custom LUT in Premiere Pro CC 2015?

I’ve just taken delivery of a cheap 4k TV. This is NOT going to be used for color timing. It’s for viewing by clients – and so that I can see my work on a large screen in 4k, even if the color is not perfect. I don’t expect anything near perfection, but I want a respectable picture.

The cheapo domestic 4k TV I bought (“Sceptre” 49 inch made by Sony) has very basic color controls – no adjustment is available for RGB & YMC. So I was hoping that I could create a LUT in Premiere Pro CC 2015 to improve the picture quality ONLY for when I display on this screen.

Can anyone direct me to a tutorial which explains how to create a LUT from scratch? Or perhaps to take an existing LUT, alter it using the P.P. color tools and then save it as a custom LUT?

Any guidance would be welcome. I’ve dug around in the Premiere Pro Reference pdf and can’t find anything in the 450 pages which describes what I want to do. But maybe you can direct me to a page in that manual.

The price of a real 4k monitor is beyond my current impoverished means. This thing cost $425, so I am getting what I paid for.

    Thanks very much.

I haven’t been brave enough to switch to 2015 yet, so I’m not sure if you can even save a LUT from it. My first inclination would be to create your LUT in Speedgrade and save it as a .look to be imported into Premiere as a preset.
