  • How do I correctly combine 50i and 25p C100 footage in FCP7

At last minute I agreed to shoot an event as a favour for someone.

I did it on two C100s.

Borrowed one from a mate who usually shoots broadcast work.

Was in a rush and forgot to check his camera settings.

His is set to 50i. I shoot at 25p.

How should I encode the footage? And what encoder should I use to do it? (I usually used 5dtoRGB but that seems to still lead to interlaced footage).

I’m trying to edit it on FCP7.

The final project needs to go to DVD. There will be about a 2:1 ratio in favour of 50i in the final project.

Everything I’ve tried so far in terms of encode, sequence and export settings seems to lead to interlaced footage at the end!

    Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

    Yours,

    Philip

Well, if your aim is DVD…what I would do is bring both in natively, but edit in a 25p sequence. Use a smart deinterlacer (Nattres.com has them…although they might be on FX Factory by now) on the interlaced footage.
