  • How do I connect a production monitor?

Posted by Chris Messineo on March 20, 2008 at 11:16 pm

I have the following Ikegami Production Monitor:

    https://www.ikegami.com/br/products/sdtv/tm91.html

I would like to hook it up to my FCP setup to use when editing.

My apple computer is a Power Mac G5 with a GeForce FX 5200 video card and 23 inch apple cinema display.

My question is, what do I need to be able to connect this production monitor? Is it a type of cable, a different/additional video card, or some kind of mixer?

    Thanks,

    Chris

If working with DV, just route your signal thru the camera or deck. Firewire to camera/deck, then component or composite to the monitor. Or get a capture card. Decklink Intensity Pro would be the cheapest option.

Your FCP manual has a wonderful set of charts to explain how to connect a video monitor & speakers with various FCP configurations.
