  • How do I color these particles like this in Particular with a layer emitter?

Hey again! I’m trying to add a gradient of colors like this to these particles using a layer emitter, but I can’t figure out how to retain the shape of the original particle system. This is what I’m trying to replicate.

Originally I tried using a custom sprite that was a sphere with these colors, but it had some strange white artifacts and kept flickering as it trailed down to the end, so this is my second option.

I tried to keep the same settings as my original system (which was just a solid blue color) but the particles don’t keep the same shape and go everywhere. Any idea how to recreate this effect? Thanks!

There’s lots of particles going on there, can you let us know when in the video you’re trying to recreate?

I’m trying to recreate her mane. I have a particle system with a bit of turbulence and the size decreasing over time, I just can’t figure out how to apply those 4 colors to it in a line like that.

Is particles the best way to achieve this? With any simulation tool you have to spend a lot of time setting up the parameters and tweaking them, whereas if you had a shape with a wiggle on it, all you have to do is attach it to the pony’s head.

It might also be worth checking out the free plugin, Fake Dynamics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBSouq8feSchttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBSouq8feSc which can handle the broad movement changes for you.
