You need to set up your kona properly and now you have given control of the OS to your Kona board. Not recommended, at least I don’t as it can really screw you up, as you are finding.

This was written for the Kona 2 but should apply to you as well.

If you want to hear your system sounds through your monitor speakers, simply run the headphone out of your G5 into your mixer.

it was more about making sure i was doing all the right gain staging between kona, my mackie mixer, beta etc

I know i can reconfigure so only fcp uses kona, but i also need to hear other apps that do not path directly to kona, such as qt, dvd studio, playboy etc. (ha ha on the last)

I went to the doc on kona audio as suggested, and on my system i get no percentages so i have to ball park the fader in the mac sound control pane as suggestedm which corresponds to 11 dots
