I’m using the displacer deformer with an imported mov video that serves as a fake ‘depth’ map. In my source video ,I masked out areas I don’t want to use, and they’re solid black. With the deformer tag, the fake ‘depth’ map works as I want, but the masked out black regions of the source video create a solid plane, and I’m wondering if there’s a way to create a region, such as a falloff to hide/disable these polygons. The result should be only polygons that are affected by the displacer tag.

If there’s a way I could do this, possibly with xpresso, let me know if you have any ideas.

    Thanks

you should be able to use the same mov in the Alpha channel of a material on the object. Play with the Black Point/White Point values to get 0% alpha in the areas you want to be seen.
