How could i make the BBC news intro pulses

Hey guys,
im brand new to Creative COW and this is my first thread i was just wondering weather anyone could tell how to would recreate the pulsing circle that move up in globe shape at about 9 seconds any body know how i could recreate this (not the whole frame just the circle)

For the 2D effect, you can use the Radio waves effect [link], or you can build a shape layer (or import vector art from Illustrator) and animate its scale.

For the 3D effect, you could start with the above, then warp it in 3D space with Freeform [link].

I would create a solid the size of your comp. Draw a mask that is a horizontal bar shape. Animated the mask from the top of the comp to the bottom, and then apply CC sphere to it.
