    Hi there,

Ok so ive got a precomp of a scene with stuff popping up in the foreground. i want there to be a heatwave and im using cc particle world to create the displacement map and then using compound blur. it works nicely, however i dont want it to manipulate stuff in the foreground popping up, they need to be crisp….

soo i tried to add a mask to the displacement map (which is a pre comp), but it doesnt seem to be recognised. i then tried to add a mask within the precomp on the cc particle layers but they dont accept the mask it would seem.

soo…can anyone recommend the best way of doing it? i know i could add the heatve to each individual layer, but theres a lot of them and im sure theres a better way than that.

    cheers

dunno if i get your problem right.
can you not simply put the crisp stuff in the foreground?

if not. can you use track matte? put your crisp stuff in a separate comp & use this as the matte for the heatwave-precomp?

Why don’t you only apply the distortion/blur to the background layers using an adjustment layer or use two separate pre-comps (a foreground pre-comp and a background pre-comp, apply the distortion to the background pre-comp)?
