  • How can I shutdown Avid when it’s hung, I’ve tried EVERYTHING

    Well hopefully not everything.

I can’t shutdown my computer as a number of critical things are happening that can’t be interrupted.

Avid Media Composer is running but has crashed, and I want to end the task and start it again.

    I have tried:

    • Ending the task
    • Ending the process
    • Ending the process using process hacker
    • Killing the process tree using process hacker
    • Using the command prompt and the taskkill function to kill the process and the process tree
    • I’ve stopped every service Avid runs in the background
    • I’ve ended every associated Avid process individually.
    • I’ve tried launching Avid once again in case the screen was stuck somehow but process had indeed ended.

None of these methods have had success. It’s 5 hours before the other processes running will be finished.

There MUST be a way to kill this process.

    Other Processes running

    • Chrome, multiple tabs
    • Uploading a video to vimeo
    • Copying to LTFS tape volume

    System Specs

    Dual Xeon CPUs 3.4GHz
    32GB Ram
    Windows 7 Professional OS 64bit
