  • How can I print Browser information in FCE?

    Hi all,

I would like to print the information contained in the Browser columns on paper in order to use it as a transcript. I especially need the time code, in and out points and comments of both clips and markers. How can I do this? Tried to find any export command but I have not found it.

    Very happy for any tips,

    Thanks again

Lay out the browser columns they way you want them, delete any you don’t need, and use File>Export>Batch List. It’ll produce a tab delineated text file.

    All the best,

    Hi.

Any way to print or save the browser information in FCE4? I own your new book and didn’t see any reference to it, and wasn’t able to make your File>Export>Batch List suggestion work.

My ideal would be to export the clip information to Bento to maintain a tape/clip library.

    Thanks.

What didn’t work with Batch List? I just did it today and could copy and paste into a spreadsheet. Does Bento import Excel files?

    All the best,

With the browser selected, from the file/export menu I only see quicktime movie, quicktime conversion and live type as targets.

I capture my tape, and edit my clip metadata and add markers before I start working with the sequence itself. I am using a new macbook pro, FCE4, Logic Studio (compressor and soundtrack) with an HV30 in HD mode.

Yes, bento can work with CSV.

BTW, you might want to update your signature with your new book :-).

    Hi.

I was hoping someone would point out my mistake or mis-configuration :-).

Has anyone taken a fresh copy and fresh install of FCE4 (I don’t own any earlier version) and been able to make the batch list function that Tom talked about work? Is there an add-in that would help me create a database of track metadata/notes? (besides spending another $1100 for FCP 🙂

    Thanks.

    hi Tom and everyone….

this is an old thread being reborn!

As the saying goes, they can put a man on the moon but……

I have fc 6.0.1. I simply cannot see how to print out browser information that lets me have a hard copy of marker comments WITHIN a 1 hour clip. As you know, people take notes all the time from within a clip so it is really needed. whenever I batch list export and then drag that into excel, the best I get is just the one line entire clip info – but no notes taken within that clip whether they are marker comments or even subclips. I of course hide columns I wish not to see.

Am I missing something? I think this really should be something that apple solves as it is so necessary in the field of professional editing and producing. Many people prefer to dig the entire clip and then go back and screen it and it is then that is where the note taking process takes place (as opposed to doing notes during log and capture).

I also figured I would try to do a log and transfer but unfortunately when I tried the clips already loaded onto my drive were grayed out.

Can you, or anyone, think of any way to do this? I read one comment to take a screen capture which seems almost like a joke sorry to say.

    Thanks!
