    Hello everyone,

I’ve been reading these forums for a while and it has helped me out greatly as a beginner video editor.

I was using iMovie before to make promo videos for Youtube for my music (I am a music producer by profession) but it was a simple video with just the album artwork, some moving text and the audio.

I have been shooting independent videos with my Canon T3i recently, but there is alot of work involved with editing the video on top of my music production.

I was looking for a way to make promo videos for songs that aren’t as mainstream (no vocals, more underground, etc.) but to keep it interesting and I came across these videos on Youtube:

How can I get an effect like this? Where the equalizer bars bounce to the beat of the music. Is this some sort of template for Motion? or is it more complicated with AE? I do not have motion currently, but since it is only $50, if i can get a similar effect with it, I will buy it to add to my current FCPX setup.

    Thanks in advance!

(Chris, I don’t mean to hi-jack your thread, but your video link got me thinking- Dave)

I took a look at the Youtube video link from above and was pretty impressed with the ultimate result with a few layered motion effects, graphics, and text.

I’d love to start uploading some of my music to Youtube without creating extravagant video stories and having to resort to just using the Ken Burns effect. Does anyone have any ideas or other concepts as to how to put forth a rock/pop song with something interesting to look at while people listen?

I know this is a very vague request, but aside from acting out a video storyline and/or using photos, I’m not coming up with any interesting ideas. Anything with some movement would be cool vs. a static image.

    Thanks,
    Dave
