  • How can I learn Avid (the Basics) as soon as possible?

Posted by Wally on November 11, 2007 at 4:09 am

Could someone direct me to learning DVD’s. I have extensive experience with FCP but now need to learn Avid. How can I do this?

    Thanks,

    Wally

    Hi Wally,

There are a bunch of training options listed on Avid’s training website: https://www.avid.com/training/

There’s a link to DVDs on the left side of the page.

    good luck,
    Carl

I agree. The ALEX (Avid Learning) site has some great free tutorials. I got up to speed enough in just a couple of days to be able to start a new editing gig having never used the AVID prior to that (except a brief look at the original Xpress lo those many years ago). You can even pay for some of their more advanced courses and advance your skills that much more. Definitely check it out.

and, get an Avid 101 course.
Back to basics, but Avid is a beast with a mind of its own.
You either obay the Avid way, or expect to smash a lot of keyboards…

    Hey Wally,

I agree! I signed up for ALEX – they have an Avid XPress Pro 101 course that runs you through all the basics. It’s enough to get you sailing smoothly.

    Cheers!
