I have a wedding recorded onto miniDVD through one of those minidvd cams(no copy protection obviously). How can i get the footage into FCP w/o losing a generation of quality? Is there a way to convert the files on the DVD to MPEG 2? All I see when I open up the the dvd in finder are two folders-the videoT_S which actually play when imported into FCP, but the video is broken up into sections. the other folder says audio, but my mac(OS X) does not see any files in that folder; hence i have no audio unless i bring it in analog and sync it with the video. The other option is to bring in the entire footage analog which I’m trying to avoid. Anybody have any idea what I can do?

It already is MPEG-2. You need to convert it to DV. Use MPEG Streamclip.

    All the best,
