How can I get better quality from my DVX-100?
I recently got the Panasonic DVX 100. I am shooting live concerts for a school that has its kids performing. The room is entirely dark, but the stage (90% of the time) has good lighting. I am shooting from about 50 ft away. When I import my footage into final cut 5 or the new sony vegas my material is slightly pixelated, or graining. The picture is not crisp or smooth. I have the camera set to F5, its 24P. The camera is in focus. Any advice?

Get closer. In NTSC you don’t have a lot of pixels to capture something from so far away. Also make sure your capture settings are correct.

Check the gain switch. Sometimes that can be the grain culprit.
Changing the shutter speed to 1/24 has helped me get more light in.
