  • How can I export AVCHD as XDCAM 25 without audio becoming two identical audio tracks

I’m very new to Premiere and I am trying to export AVCHD 1080p 30fps footage to XDCAM 25 but am having an issue.

I recorded two separate channels on my HMC150 camera. In one channel (in the AVCHD footage), the audio controls were bumped up very high to pick up softer audio during a wedding ceremony. The other channel was set much lower to just pick up the band when they played.

So where I’m at is that I export the AVCHD footage as XDCAM 25, but then the result is that the two audio channels essentially become mixed together forming two identical tracks where the audio clips whenever the band plays. I’m looking for a way to maintain the separate channels of audio without mixing them together like this.

Just for reference, I am exporting it as XDCAM 25 because it needs to go on a 25GB Blu-ray Data DVD. The file is about 13 GB as XDCAM 25 which is great. However, if I were to use ProRes 422 it would be way too big for the Blu-ray as it’s almost an hour of footage. If there is another Codec that would not significantly decrease the quality of the footage, but will not increase file size about 25 GB please let me know as that would work too.

The reason I’m doing this is that the ceremony started an hour late, and I was the only Camera Operator. I had several cameras in the balcony but was not able to walk up there and turn them off and back on. So I got an hour of extra/useless footage. The AVCHD clip from each camera is around 26 GB (almost 2.5 hrs) and the client needs the raw footage. I have several 25GB blu-ray discs but do not want to have to order 50GB discs and spend more money. So I want to remove the hour of footage of everyone sitting around waiting for the wedding to start and then place those new files on the 25GB Bluray discs.

    Thanks for your help,

    Mike

    Mike,

I’m in the middle of the hurricane on the east coast – but you can build a sequence with 16 out, you should get separate tracks and be able to send specific audio to specific tracks.
