How can I create the illusion of people merging together in After Effects?
I’m hoping that if I shooting some footage of 4 different characters I will be able to merge them into effectively but have no idea where to start.
I’m hoping to get an effect similar to 3mins 36secs through the Michael Jackson “Black or White” video with the faces merging into each other:

My initial thought was that it would be done possibly using the liquify filter?
Can anybody point me in the right direction?

There used to be a free one. Googleing morph software may help you a little more.
Those are solutions outside after effects. To try something on AE you might want to check out Eran’s great tutorial here:

Well that pretty much answered my question, it never even crossed my mind to use frame blending in After Effects for this effect. Now all I have to do is try it with green-screen footage rather than still images… gulp!!
