How can I capture video right from my XD CAM into FCP?
Hello everyone, I just bought a sony PMW_EX1 XD CAM. I have the latest software from sony to import clips from the SXS cards but what I want to do is hook up the XD CAM through its I-link port to my mac pros firewire and capture what the camera is viewing right onto final cut pro. every time I try to capture using the capture and log feature on FCP it tells me that “a video device or deck needs to be set to capture” or something along those lines
I also switched the I-Link on the Xd CAM to Enable so according to the manual this should work, but its not.
any tips guys? any help would be awesome.

iLink out only works in SP mode (HDV)

I suspect that the camera’s manual would have this information. You will need to set the output of the camera, and you may need to set some other things regarding frame size and bandwidth as well.
