    How can I add an effect (RedGiant) to alpha layer without affecting the alpha?

    I have a piece of text that I want to run through the RedGiant VHS effect, the only problem is, the effect happens to the empty alpha too and I just want to mess with the text so I can match it to existing VHS footage.

    Hi. Use a copy of your text as a track matte.
