How about using a black and white image as a matte?
I have a black and white image from an output of a key. How do I apply that another clip as an alpha for it to use?

Heya,
You can use an image mask to accomplish this. It defaults to using the alpha channel of the reference image, but you can just as easily set it to use the luminance: Image Mask.

Group- Normal
Black & White Image- Stencil Luma
