  How a get Quicktime custom recording settings?

  Quicktime offers several basic settings to record from any compatible devices.
  

  I am working on a very specific project and I need to reduce dramatically the recorded flow. I need a setting a little bit lower than those available.

  Compressing the movie after the record is useless for this project.

  Do you have any idea for creating advanced custom record settings?
  Hacking a file? A plug?
  Any idea welcome.
