Does anyone know how to neutralize a hot spot in premiere.

I have a bust shot of a person with a highlight on one side of the face and the other has heavier shadows. We were not able to use a board to bounce the key light.

Is there a trick to softening the highlight w/o losing the contrast integrity of the frame? I have tried all the little effects and they just are not cutting it.

    Thanks for any advice.

Duplicate the clip on a higher track, add a garbage matte to this duplicated clip to cover just the area you want to adjust and add color correction or brightness correction.

You can also try a luma key on the duplicate layer to isolate the highlight, then color-correct that.
